Our Philosophy

OUR INVESTMENT PHILOSOPHY

FdG’s investment strategy is to identify companies that have achieved solid positions in their markets and have the potential to improve revenues and/or profitability through one or more specific initiatives. We work in conjunction with a company’s management to develop strategic and operating plans designed to capitalize on the company’s strengths. Key growth initiatives may include product development, entry into new markets, improved operating efficiencies and/or expansion via acquisition.

We are experienced at providing a range of management solutions, including analytical support for key business decisions, the assessment of organizational needs and capabilities, the development of expansion strategies and the access to capital, if necessary, to realize growth plans. Of particular interest are situations in which a change of ownership or the access to additional capital can serve as a catalyst, bringing a new level of energy to the enterprise.

FdG’s long-term investment horizon supports our orientation toward building businesses through both internal growth and acquisitions. This perspective allows us to base our buy and sell decisions on an objective evaluation of the risk/return profile of each investment independently.

"For nearly 20 years, my wife and I invested our hearts and souls in our business. We grew our company to the point where we had a real shot at becoming the leader in our market segment, but we were concerned about betting our entire net worth on an aggressive growth plan. "FdG helped us realize our goals. They led a recapitalization of the company that allowed my family and I to retain a significant equity stake while I continued to run the company. With this structure we got cash for most of our equity and the company received substantial capital for growth. With my family’s financial security insured, we were willing to pursue a more aggressive growth strategy, which has been very successful. In fact, the minority equity stake we retained is now worth more than the cash we received up front."
